Client / Server Installation

For the professional version there are two install programs. The server install needs to be run on a single machine. This machine is your "server" and if you have more than a handful of clients it's a good idea to have your server running a server class operating system. The server provides a central location for all the test results to be stored. It is also where certain maintenance tasks are performed such as adding and removing teachers. The "client" install should be run on each machine where you want to run Math Facts.

The server must be turned on in order for the clients to work. Additionally, if your server has a firewall, you will have to open port 27692 and make sure that the Microsoft file and printer sharing ports are open as well. There are no other special instructions for installing the server as the installation program configures everything. After installing the server, you should run the Math Facts Admin tool to complete the database configuration and define the list of teachers and classes for each teacher.

The client depends on the server and will not run without it. You can install the client on any machine connected to the network, including the server machine. The client install is as simple as the stand-alone Math Facts install.

Each teacher will need to run the Math Facts client and add students for their classes.

If the Client Does Not Find the Server

The first time the client is run, it will search your network to identify the server. If it doesn't find the server, make sure that 1) you have run the Math Facts Admin utility on the server, 2) the client is connected to the network, 3) the server is turned on, and 4) that there isn't a firewall blocking port 27692.

If the client still doesn't find the server, you will need to manually tell the client where the server exists. Copy this file (right click on the link and select Save As...) to the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\UberSmart folder in Windows XP, or the C:\ProgramData\UberSmart folder in Windows Vista or Windows 7. In either case, you will need to manually create the UberSmart folder. After you copy the file, you will need to open it with a text editor and replace "Enter Your Server Name Here" with the name of the server. You can also use the IP address of the server, but it is not recommended.

As always, feel free to contact us should you have any problems.

I purchased the flash card software for my daughter when she was in 4th grade. She practiced every night for ten minutes and within a couple of months she was one of the 'experts' in her class during math games. I only wish I had bought it a couple years earlier!

Thank you so much for this program. This is just perfect for my special needs boy. I like it because I can change the seconds for answering (or have no time limits) and also because it does not have lots of bells and whistles to distract.

I loaded the math software on my children's computer and within a short time they had discovered it and voluntarily began using it! They love trying to "master" each number set... even my 3 year old asks to do computer math almost every day :-)

Ubermath helped me with my math facts A LOT! I love the way you can try to reach mastery goals and see how much progress you've made.

I think [Math Facts] is great, my son thinks it is more of a game than a learning tool! I love that it tracks his progress and grades it for him! I highly recommend this software!

UberSmart is the perfect warm up before a math lesson. After a round of UberSmart we are able to get right into the math without waiting for "clearing of the brain fog" that my kids seem to have at the beginning of most math lessons. This makes my time much more productive and effective. The kids get better grades when they do UberSmart first. We love UberSmart Math Facts!
